Work Report 12th/20th May 2007 (Page 1)
I attended the 9 day Fettlers Camp from Monday the 14th to Saturday the 19th and took some of the photos below. Other photos were taken by the photographer acknowledged in the frame. No doubt a full report will follow with details of the progress over the 9 days.
All I can say is that it was an extremely well organised and productive project. The Track Manager and the Systems Manager did an outstanding job and the varying volunteers battled along to jack up the line, remove old sleepers then hand lay and dog spike the "new" second hand sleepers.
Most of us discovered muscles we did not know we had. One of the fettling teams I worked in had an average age in the mid to high 60s so it wasn't a bad effort. Hopefully the photos will give you "flavour" of the weeks progress.

Compressor and air tools donated by Prime Industrial Rental This tractor was on extended loan from local businessman Bill Muldoon. A large capacity generator on extended loan from Moorhead Engineering.

Wayne White, Oberon Trash-Pak, loaned us this Toilet (0427 104 318) Another generator loaned for the duration. The Systems Manager conducts a toolbox meeting in the morning to focus on the relevant safety issues.

Harry was kept totally busy refurbishing all of the hand and power tools. The Systems Manager (Matt McMahon) using the pneumatic drill donated by Prime Track Manager, Peter Culley, using the jack hammer loaned by Brian Nunan, Nunan Fertilizers (6336 1795)

Christine and Glenda (10) were two of the volunteers who supplied outstanding catering throughout the fettlers camp. The workers are shown tucking-in to the excellent meals.

All appropriate safety regulations were observed and work was carried out under strict guidelines developed under ITSRR accreditation. A supply of clean water was on hand for washing and drinking.

Some of the volunteers enjoyed a sponsored meal at Chris and Jenny Robbin's Hotel at Tarana. New line in place from Hazelgrove including a road crossing on Black Bullock Road. Just south of Black Bullock Road, the ground is prepared for a new cattle stop.

The road into the camp proved troublesome during the rain on Friday - but welcome for the district. Old sleepers being replaced. Arthur did a wonderful job as usual and here he "bungs it on" a bit!

Three volunteer fettlers travelled all the way from the RTM to assist during the week. Their contribution and guidance was outstanding.
