A tribute to Ross Allen who passed away
peacefully on Sunday 20th Dec 2009

... you can clearly see how enthusiastic Ross was!

Ross was in a pensive mood at the party held when OTHR gained access to the station - no doubt thinking "we finally made it!"

This photograph shows Ross on one of his last jobs as a fettler shortly before he became too sick to do the heavier physical work.

Like all the volunteers, Ross turned his hand to many tasks as a fettler - here on a rail jack ...

...and here on a pneumatic drill.

Head down & bum up was the procedure when dragging sleepers into place - we joked about being part of "Team Geriatric"

This photo and the one below shows Ross at work on the motor of the Wickham section car - a project that he co-ordinated and housed in his own shed.

Ross dragooned his father-in-law to work on the project during a visit to their property. More details of this project can be seen on the Wickham page.
