Work Report - Fettlers Camp - week 3rd/10th Nov 2007
Track Manager, Peter Culley reported:
                                     "The Wet and Cold Week"
" The first Saturday was a blessing for the district with over 100mm of rain in many places. Unfortunately it made work on the line too dangerous for that day. The following days were better but we still couldn't pull the sled as the ground was too wet. Much effort was put into the laying of additional sleepers and the dog spiking of previous sleepers. Over 4000 dog spikes were driven and, of course, over 4000 holes were drilled.
The Bobcat loaned by the RTM was most valuable and was used to maximum gain in the short period we had it - many thanks RTM!
Also thanks must go to the volunteers and caterers who laboured under adverse conditions. Considerable work was done in the vicinity of the Tip Road and the crossing will be in place soon."

Tim drills, Tony lifts the sleeper, Bluey starts the dogs and Bob gauges.  Tony is on the jack hammer - a thankless task. Clive guides a "delicate" adjustment operation on the sleeper placement ...

Bluey and Tim at work. A mid week on-site general meeting was held as it was decided all the workers would go to sleep if it was held at night.

The meeting was held near the caravan hired for the work session so that the caterers would have a base closer to the work force.
Alma is one of our much appreciated catering corp ...
... as is Secretary Margaret who put down her hot keyboard to help with the catering.
